A large cabinet with gold leaf accents containing bowls filled with cherries. A monitor plays a documentary style slideshow of a population as they go about their lives in the rural American south. Only there are subtle differences from our loved experiences. This piece imagines the Appalachian region and what a religion based on the life of a cherry tree would look like if it succeeded in becoming the dominant religion of Europe in the 15th century. What would the protestant equivalents in Appalachia look like? This piece is part of a larger body of work based on cherry worshiping.
